Please bear with me and my simple issue. I have a 1999 Evinrude 90 HP FICHT on my pontoon boat. I have been overseas for 2 years and out of state for another year so the boat hasn’t seen any water except for running it on the water hose. I am trying to sell the boat and my father hooked the water hose to it and it started no problem but the water is coming out of the lower unit. He believes it should come out of the 2 ports where the hose hooks up by the cowling. It has been so long I cannot remember where the water should come out when using a water hose to run the outboard.

Can anyone let me know where the water should be coming out so I can figure out if the outboard needs additional work before selling it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Most of the cooling water comes out the prop with the exhaust.----Next test is in the lake.

Take it to the lake and give it a good hard run. Then see how it's running. Let us know.

You cannot test a water pump by running on a hose. The pump is not pumping when you are doing that, only allowing hose water to pass through.
