Running a Force 125 with no lower

hey Guys, I have a question. I bought a parts engine, to get the lower off for my boat. But the engine has a misfire, so I was hoping to possibly diagnose it after i install the lower on my engine. but ill eventually need to start it without the lower attached so there wont be any water pump. is there an easy way with a garden hose perhaps to run these like that?

I supposed you can run it without the lower by attaching a garden hose to the water tube. Just make sure you do not overpressurized.
