Well I have a 85 hp 1985 Force, I just recently had it tuned up and is running great BUT, after she is warmed up pretty good and I am running her on a plane she jst dies. I then put it in Nuetral start her back up and she starts up fine, and jumps back on a plane and dies again after a short time (2-5 minutes). I really dont wanna have to take her back in and break out a bunch more money, hopefully someone here can help me out. Another problem I am having here where i live is that it is salmon season and every boat mechanic is 7-10 days out. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Running and dying

I had a problem similar to that and it turned out that I didn't have my fuel vent opened.

Re: Running and dying

Are you mixing this with 50 to 1 and using 87 octane gas? It does sound like a fuel problem. You may have a float sticking on one of your carbs and the motor can not keep up with the fuel demand. Another problem you may have a slight air leak somewhere. Hopefully it is what tims floater said. I have done this before however if that is what haa happened you may have to replace the diaphram in the fuel pump. Also try running motor with gas cap loose. Tank may not be venting correctly.
