Hi, i have a Maxum with a 3.0 and was wondering what the coldest temperatures i could run this boat is without any chance of damage. I live in NJ and like to fish off shore as long as possible into this cooler, fall season. I am curious because almost everyone around here has or is about winterize their boat..

You still have a while to go if you want to keep using it.Your concern is when there is a hard freeze. If the temp is going to drop below freezing at night and go back into the 50s during the day you can keep running with a few precautions. Its when the days and nights are below freezing that you really should pull it.Charlie

AS long as the boat is running, you're fine. Mine stays in till Thanksgiving, and I'm in CT.

If it get's below freezing routinely, then drain the block and manifolds of water for when the motor isn't running. If the water in the bilge is frozen or starts sheeting over, then that's a good indication to make sure there's no water left in the motor to freeze.

I trailer my boat....
I'll be fishing At Least till the end of November,Possibly till the End of December.....
I Drain everthing, From now till the Last trip....
And, the Freezing Weather has Already Started up Here......
And, I'll be Fishing till the Ice quits Breaking under the Trailer,+ I Can't get the boat Off the trailer.......

Like ron7000 says..... Air Can't Freeze........ ;)

BTW, I'm boating in Freshwater.....

What are these 'freeze' things you guys are talking about? The coldest it gets here is about 36 degrees. And that's only on the coldest nights in winter (June/July). :D

Are there any oil issues? What weights do you run in colder weather vs. the summer?

Straight 30 weight is fine and usually factory recommended. Many here use and recommend synthetics which I can see being an advantage in cold weather.Charlie
