I am about to sell my old boat.(1974 chaparall trihull) The lower unit seals were bad on it last year so I took it apart with the intentions of resealing it but never got around to it. My question is if someone comes to look at my boat can crank the motor up in my yard just to show them that it runs. I realize that with no lower unit on the motor it could run hot but I'm talking about only running it for maybe one minute max. Will I screw anything else up by running the motor with no lower unit. thanks for any help. The motor is a 1974 johnson 70hp.

You could try clamping a garden hose to the water tube, I wouldn't try to run it long that way but it should work for a short time.

Yep, put a hose on the water tube. No problems with that.

Glad to hear that I can run it without the lower unit. Appreciate the quick responses.
