Running omc stringer drive w/o tilt motor

I have a 1985 omc 3.0 with the 400 outdrive. My tilt motor quit and have a new one on order. Can I run the boat without the tilt motor installed. I can turn the gear thing from the inside of the boat to raise and lower the outdrive and get it on and off the trailer. Is anything going to pop out or anything like that if i run it without the motor in there.

Hey give it try let us know how you made out. Oh keep a eye on the hole where the tilt goes let me know if you get water in the bilge.
