Running temp for 3.0 tks mercruiser suntracker 27 ft pontoon?

the water here is 92 degrees. Crazy hot. The running temp on the boat at 3k rpm is 175 with a 160 degree thermostat. When i speed up it rises to 178 is that ok?

Yep just fine exactly what my merc with a 160 stat runs at, even in cooler water.
I don’t think the alarm for overheat trips until 200 or 205.

Is this a new to you boat? If so, make sure to do all the maintenance the prior owner didn't do

No, it's not new.I just put on a brand new carburetor And temp sensor on it and didn't know if the mixture was off. still get a little after run every now and then

I would fatten up the idle mix a tad, and make sure idle speed is down.

Was the old carb running rich ? if so maybe need to remove carbon from inside combustion chambers with sea foam or GM top engine cleaner
