As long as it's propped to work within it's designated RPM range, the short anser is "no" - it won't "hurt" it.<br /><br />That said, any motor will last longer if run more conservatively in it's "cruise range". Running at wide open all day can't help but shorten the mean time between overhauls. <br /><br />-W

With that said, If you are HAVING to run it at WOT just to keep your boat on plane or at a speed you enjoy, then you bought too small of an engine!

You've probably already noticed that between 3/4 throttle and full throttle, you get very little more. The power curve seems to flatten-out above 3/4 throttle or so on a 4-stroke. But you use a whole lot more gas when it's pegged all the time. If you keep it a few mph below full, you'll notice it uses less gas and you still get where you're going just about as fast. Enjoy the ride. :)
