Just replaced the long block. Went from 2BBL to 4BBL during the swap.

Now I'm using Edelbroke 1409...that has been freshen up with a rebuild kit.

Edelbrock Performer intake manifold.

Yesterday after filling the fuel tank, boat left the marina, ran fine through the rpm range.

Stopped for a couple hours to play cranked right back up idled fine....got up to plane fine....

coming off the throttle it died. Did this 3-4 times in a row even at lower RPMs (no wake zone)...

Since there is no fuel filter, I'm thinking some debris may be clogging the idler veins or soemthing along that line...

Thoughts?

BTW since my motor is a Vortec motor...

I didn't use the edelbrock 1485 calibration kit...

I don't think this is my issue, but just thought I'd mention.

I'm 99% sure its the 2114 as my motor is a '99 vortec motor.

It also has the 8 bolt pattern for the 4.3

Thru research, I've heard the 1409 carb needs the edelbrock meter kit (1485) if its a NON vortec motor.

Mine is a vortec.

Still think thats the issue?

There doesn't seem to be any bogging issue, its just coming off the throttle, I'm having a stalling issue.

I put a throttle return spring on the throttle linkage...not sure if that has anything to do with it either, as the old 2BBL didn't have one.

I can't comment on the carb problem itself as I am not familiar with that setup. I can strongly suggest you add a fuel filter and a fuel/water separator to your system before you have additonal fuel problems complicating any adjustments you need to make. Hy

Re: runs fine...until you come off the throttle and dies.

took it to the mechanic at the marina...
He said the alignment was off by about an inch...
that seems like ALOT considering the alignment tool slid in and out without very little resistance.

Timing was a little off, but other than that...

he said nice job on the motor swap...

Anyways, $170 to re-align and set the timing. Smooth and a baby's butt.

Good Easter weekend on the water.:D
