hey guys the title says it all, ive got a 1988 28hp remote on the back of my fishing rig, it seems a lil slow at full throttle, like it isnt reving high enough....also you can kinda feel a lil sputter/ surge when just cruzin along at slower speeds....put it in reverse and she'll rev right up....why would i have more power in reverse?....i checked the plugs for firing....and it will run with either unplugged...so both are fireing....on ocaision when the tank is low in fuel it will stall...pump the ball and she cracks right off half the turn of the key....where to begin??

By design, it is not supposed to run in reverse over 1/2 throttle. Also, prop efficiency, in reverse, is musc less so the load on the engine is less.

I am ASSUMING you have portable fuel tanks?

If you have a built in tank, I would be looking at the venting. The same can apply to portables.

I would try a known good portable tank with a known good fuel line set up.

Disconnect your line from the pump to the carb and put the end in a jar; turn the motor over and see if it pumps in strong spurts. If not could be like mine no leak but not strong enough to keep motor running above 1/2 throttle.
