I have aquired a 4.5 Ted Williams outboard. It hasn't been run in a long time and the tank has much rust in. I know I can replace the tank, but is there anything I can treat the tank with to remove the rust. Thanks Jason

at wal mart there is something like rust dissolver, it eats rust away, not a converter apparently

give it a shot, its in the paint department near the thinners

by the way, I had a 4.5 GF, wonderful motor, just make sure your impeller is good, I know it says AIR COOLED on the front, but there is an impeller to keep the exhaust cooled down

Good Luck!

Most motorcycle shops carry kits that contain acid to eat the rust and a cream to recoat the inside of the tank. Follow the directions, if not done properly the coating won't stick and can cause problems.

ISkiH20 shares my opinion....look for a product called Kreem. The fumes will knock you on your butt if you aren't careful, but when applied properly the stuff really works well.
