Hello everyone,
I'm gonna paint my engines. I have some rust in certain spots on the engines. I wanted to know the best way to remove it and THE EASIEST way. I saw some chemicals on youtube. I want to get advice from experienced boaters.

Calcium Lime and Rust (CLR) remover, wire brush or sand blast. Be sure to use a good degreaser to remove all of the 2 stroke oil residues before you paint.

I just cleaned up two 40 year old rusty motorcycle tanks with Apple cider vinegar. Awesome results after 2-4 days of soaking.

The engines are still in the boat. I can't stand blast them. There are hard to reach spots too.

I know you'll think I'm crazy but...Use an old paint brush and coat the parts with Ketchup! Wait about 4-5 hours and then wash it off. I think you'll be AMAZED!!!!;)

the vinegar and tomato in ketchup are both acidic. sort of like a mild acid past.
