Re: Rusted shafts in tilt trim

Don't know if you're talking about the tilt tube or not, but if so, I had a similar problem with a 1987 Yamaha 225. had to heat the tube with a torch and add spray lubricant, and repeat over and over. In between, I had to use a steel rod and pound the other rod out of the tube. Not sure if there's an better way to do it, but it worked. I doubt that the Yamaha folks would tell you to do it that way but then I'm not a certified outboard mechanic.

Steve

Thought as much Steve. It is actualy the rod that goes through the ram brackets. I'm a bit worried about distorting the alloy it goes through, also I would like to keep the rod true so I can get another one engineered out of stainless.
Paul
