hi again, my 72 IL6 block is pretty rusty on the outside. i read that i should paint my block and shine it up prior to winter,,,, hum, i don't see this happening as to the rusty exterior of the block. question is, what's the best way to preserve what i have. best i've come up with is putting silicon on it. thought about useing wd40, but am concerned about what wd40 will do to my wireing. anyone got better ideas? also, my outdrive is pretty non painted too. lots of paint chipped off of it. guess i'm supposed to paint that too. what kinda prep work is there to that? jim

there are spray can oils made to protect the motor on the out side i dont know how much it will help at this point

i see penzoil in the auto atores with a spray made for the motor

merc sells a paint kit that has a step one that etchs the metal so the paint will stay on then a primer and the finish coat

for it to work you need elbow grease to remove any lose paint

tommays
