Rusty tank...

I am buying a motor with a two line 6 gallon tank. The tank has had gas in it for YEARS... It has rust in it... Can anything be done? can it be sand blasted or can I get in there with steel wool?

Remove the top fittings, treat/soak/rinse, repeat, repeat with carb cleaner. Let it dry out and take some aquarium gravel or a handful of bolts/nuts and drop in the tank and shake, shake, shake. Repeat until the inside is clean enough for you. Rinse with pressure washer, pour in some alcohol to evaporate the remaining water. Reinstall the fittings and Bob's your uncle. This works, but takes some time/effort. But if you like that tank...
