Rusty/Yellow Water coming out of bilge

Hey all, I have noticed since i got this boat that when i run the bilge pump, i get a rusty/yellow looking stream out of the bilge. <br /><br />I have checked for gas/oil leaks and i cant find any, and i also just replaced the water circulation pump, so i know its not that...<br /><br />Any ideas?

are you talking out of the bilge pump? or when you pull the plug?<br /><br />is there an oily sheen on the discharge water? what shape is the bilge in? mine's pretty nasty. i'll get that color if i let water sit for a few days, after a rain or something.<br /><br />you can clean the bilge, check the usual stores. if it's from the pump, you could have something in the discharge hose...nest or debris.

yea, out of the bilge pump... my boat is never on land to pull the plug.<br /><br />There isnt any oily sheen on the water when it comes out, unless i scrub the deck with cleaner and then pump the water out. My bild is in OK condition, i guess it may just need a cleaning. I have a foward and stern pump, the foward one doesnt have this problem.<br /><br />They are both automatic, so a huge amount of rain will be purged automatically, but only when i run it to get anything below the auto pump level is when i see this.

My guess is somthing steel or iron in the bilge.<br /> It only shows up when the water gets a little lower and flows past the rusty residue.maybe??
