I have an old propane refrige that the freezer on top works fine but the fridge compatrment won't keep the beverages cold. I tried replacing the gaskets on both doors and that does not help at all the freezer works fine but the fridge does not cool. The unit is on a stand in an old mobile home that is used as a cabin and it is cosed up for days at time. I checked the propane level in the PIG tank and that is 60% full. Any coments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 788TJ.

My only suggestion is you gotta get it perfectly level. Not just 'close' to level.

Re: rv propane refrigerator

They use two separate coils for the fridge and freezer if its the older style. Say ten years old.
If that is the case then the ammonia has leaked out of the coils in the fridge section.
If that is not the case then the thermo control to the lower part could be bad.
If they set for a long time with out being used the ammonia will go to the top of the coils and hang there.
Unlike a regular refrigerator take it out and turn it upside down for 24 hrs and then fire it back up and see if it will help.
Yea I know you all think I am crazy but this is exactly what I had to do to my old one up in the mountains where we go sometimes.

Further to what bubbakat said......I agree with him but I had to do one other thing. Not only did I have to keep it upside down for 24 hours, I was told to take it like that on a rough road and give it a good ride. Believe it or not, it worked. There can be air locks in it as well and this is the ony way to do it. Still works to this day. Refridgeiation tecks told me to do this. Still works to this day. Good Luck
