My parts manual says to lube various points in the linkage and other parts as well with Rykon #2EP. From my searches I have found that this is an old Amoco product and is a hydrocarbon grease (whatever that means) :p . I don't think this lubricant is available anymore.

What should I lube my linkages with and also the pinion gear (for pull starting)?

I don't know, but I would use a white lithium grease.

Ok, now someone can tell us the right answer.

The #2 EP grease is the proper viscosity to look, that is Grade 2 Extreme Pressure grease. I would only use a marine grade grease that will survive water wash down.

I use an OEM grease for marine purposes with this viscosity rating. It's also good for trailer wheel bearings and the propeller spline. Get a grease gun for all these chores and put "bearing buddies" in your trailer.

If you can contact AMOCO and ask them the substitute and post it here that would be great!

Another important product is a marine anti seize compound for the propeller spline, the water pump housing screws.

RyKon #2EP equates to US Marine All-Purpose Marine Grease T2961.
Source-Seloc Manual for Chrysler page 3-8.

Scotiany:

In my manual T2961 is the Chrysler part number for Rykon No. 2EP. Is it the same part for US Marine?

Try going to the Pennzoil site. They have a multi purpose marine grease and its specs. I use it myself.
