I purchased a used Suzuki DT 16 a couple years back. It has run great and I have had no problems until last year. My little nephews were out cruising around and somehow lost the prop and whatever nuts and bolts used to hold it in place. I have tried contacting several dealers for a replacement but most of them haven't even heard of a 16 horsepower outboard. Does anyone know where I can get a prop for a Suzuki DT 16? And with out the prop is there any other way to determine what kind of exhaust it is?

Scroll to the top of this page. Click on the "Marine Store" button and then click Propellers. Enter the make, year, and HP of your engine. A list of propellers for your engine will appear. There are many different pitches listed so you are on your own in that regard. Higher pitch = lower engine rpm but higher speed. Lower pitch = more power but less speed and also may over rev if you go too low. Use 15HP rather than 16. Count the number of splines on the drive shaft. You wil likely need a new thrust washer, outer washer, nut and if the shaft has a hole in it for a cotter pin you'll need one of those. If not, a special locking device of some sort is required to keep what happened from happening again.

Thanks I will do that. Just one more question...can you tell me how to tell what kind of exhaust it would be or does it matter for the prop?

It definitely matters for the prop. If your old prop had a cone shaped cap affair on the prop shaft with perhaps a cotter pin through it, it was not a "through-hub exhaust". You can look at the lower unit and if its open around the prop shaft - it is through hub exhaust. If that area is closed (no openings) its not a through hub.
