Randy,<br /><br />I recently inquired about SS brakes at a trailer repair shop and they said they work good. For one time. The first time you back them in the water they'll warp. I'd go with cast iron rotors. There are some more expensive materials out there, like bronze, but I don't know if they're worth it. The cast iron rotors I had (float on trailer) lasted for 4 seasons in salt water. I did wash them off after each use though. I'm just now replacing them with Kodiak brakes, which seem to be even better. Check out their web site. <br />And go with hydraulic for a boat trailer.<br />Good luck.<br /><br />Dave

I have a tandem axle trailer with SS disk on all wheels. The brake brand is Tiedown Engineering. I had one of their very first versions and got 6500 miles out of them. Would have gone further if I hadn't run through the pads and scored the rotors. Trailer has 15000 on it now, mostly over 65 mph. I like the brakes. The newest version seems really solid. My rotors are not warped. This system really stops and is easy to flush with a garden hose, no attachments required. The only thing to watch if you do serious distance with your trailer is brake pad wear.
