Son Left this morning at 4:00AM for a new navel assignment on the USS Stout out of Norfolk Va. He has been in Italy for 2 years and got to come home for about 10 days. About the only thing he wanted to do was eat some crawfish and water-ski.:D Water was finally down enough yesterday to get him on the water. Boat ran fine plus we were the only boat on the lake except for 1 pontoon.:) Highly unusual for a holiday weekend. Any way, sad to see him go. If any of you guys up that way see a Silver GMC Extended cab Pickup with MS. plates on the side of the road pick him up and take him to a rental place. His old truck has 250,000 miles on it and he will not even think of trading it in. I know millions of parents, wives, & children, go through this every day but his mom and I are truly grateful all our military personnel. Having him home on Memorial Day weekend was special. Sorry for the length of this just need to vent somewhere. Thanks.

Next time you talk with him...... tell him that I thank him for his service. That comes from a retired Army Vet :)

Wow, Norfolk is not a bad assignment.

Norfolk is a nice area ... lots of places to water ski!

Thank him for me, also. Glad you had a great 10 days.

Thank him for us. We are on Virginia's Eastern Shore. 25 miles north of Norfolk. Any troubles send a PM.

The civilised world thanks him.
And some of the uncivilized world too . . . (I just spent the weekend at Lake Havasu  )

Seriously though, great profession and a great commitment and a great kid. Sounds like an OK Dad too . . . :)

Ditto to all the above. Military deployment aside, it is always difficult when your boy is not where you can 'touch' him!
