The sea that provides us so much can, at times, be very cruel. Certainly nothing to take for granted.:'(

Definitely sad but I have to wonder what they were thinking going out on a seawall in that kind of weather.

yeah i agree with you guys i think one of the people was not from down here so they are unaware of the dangers or choose to ignore it and like you said boomyal they take it for granted that they are safe it seems just in the past 10 months or so the rescuers have been out to get some one every other week they just dont listen it seems.

I can't get my head around why that couple were out on Mullion harbour wall with a 30' swell running, with that size sea every wave would have been breaking over the wall, they could have hardly not noticed.

Just to add a bit to jims mention of the RNLI (Royal national Lifeboat Institution), you get the full picture of the comitment of these people when you realise that all of thier work is voluntary, no member of an RNLI crew gets any financial reward for doing thier job. I have a very good friend who is a helm for the Hayling Island lifeboat, he's 35 married with 2 young children and holds down a full time job as a helicopter mechanic.

Hi RPJS yeah thanks for mentioning they are voluntuary i didnt think to mention it
it is annoying when these brave men have to go out for people who get themselves in to trouble due to their ignorance .
my great grandad was on the lifeboat when they had to row it out .

:'(

"Coxswain Philip Burgess said there was a 30ft to 40ft (9m to 12m) swell in the area at the time."

:':)'( too bad, too sad. The sea is a facinating place, n' very powerful. Many a li'l South o' here, (still in God's country), like to dare mother nature on the Columbia River bar. The USCG rescues 'em, n' also learns about rescue in the high seas there. JR

As much as necessary to demonstrate the penalties of stupid behavior.
