hello all,
Do any of you have any experience with SAIL outboards? I have come across one that has never been used for a very good price. It's a 15 HP 4 Stroke. It's part of an estate. Apparently, an elderly man purchased it but passed away before getting to use it. Are 4 stroke's better if you do alot of no wake cruising? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

if you use the search function you'll find quite a few threads on them.
4 stroke for no wake cruising is a yes, absolutely.

2 strokes have been pushing sailboats for years, open the spark plug gap .005 more than recommended, and it cuts down on slow speed fouling. the 4 stroke will be just fine, just a little more maintainance, oil changes etc.

With no parts or service network it is really NOT a good deal;)

Re: sail outboards

I read the posts about parts/service and decided to pass on the SAIL. Been down that road before! Really want a 4 stroke though, so thinking about Yamaha or Nissan. Thanks for the advice. This forum is awesome. So glad I found it!
