For those that use "SaltAway" with their dispenser, thats good for a full size V-8. I stick a golfball in the cup when I rinse my out board, then whats left afterwards, I put in a 5 gallon bucket which was originally filled with 4 oz to a gallon, and I stick that bucket under my kicker and recycle it for next year on it and the other kickers I own. I store it in milk jugs over the winter. I'm not frugal, just cheap.

The finished product by the time you are done should be called "Salt injection" Where do you think the salt coming out of the motor goes?????

It goes out to the ground on the big motor, and the kicker on a 5 gallon bucket is good for ages. And it does NOT remove the salt....just neutralize it. And I was talking about the remainder in the cup, not what went through the motor

What about using the remainder on the hull of the boat to get the salt off? I have a fiberglass hull, and found that simply spraying it with the saltaway and then rinsing gets rid of the salt crystals, with very little or no effort.

Good? Bad? Indifferent?

No problem as thats what they tell you to do. But my concern is rusty corroded motor insides, and fiberglass don't rust. Okay for the trailer though.......

I'm not sure that I follow you Robby, can you clarify? Will the saltaway create rusty corroded motors insides or keep it from happening?

Saltaway will flush/neutralize your motor when you pull it out of the water if you boat the "sound". Although the saltwater is about the worst for cooling, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. They sell it at Boaters World . Not a cure-all, and to tell you the truth, it might even be snake oil. But a neighbor bought the kit (flusher and quart bottle), and I bought a gallon so we all share. I only do my outboards when they go to bed for the winter, and the big I/O when it comes out for the year. All have been in salt long enough that it won't matter much at this late stage. If I had a new motor, it would get it every time it came out, and I would hook up a salt flusher on a new I/O that sat in a slip all summer. Hope this helps.
