saltwater motors any good?????

i was gonna buy a used saltwater motor for freshwater use...should i stay away from a saltwater motor due to corrosion???thanks

its a yamaha 115hp 2003 4 stroke motor

I don't see why not to buy that motor if is in good condition and the previous owner took good care of it, if he flushed it everytime after use it should be very little to non corrosion in it, you can also remove the thermostat and see if there is any corrosion inside that area.

Well, if the SW outboard was neglected it will probably be much worse than a neglected fresh water outboard.

After 7 years maintenance is the question, not fresh or salt water use.
