ditto.
I think any water in the air vents would be bad.
Wash/Flush/Wash/Flush when you get back.

Re: saltwater

Saltwater is not the devil in disguise. Water can and will enter any part of a boat. The only difference with salt is that you have to wash it off of metal surfaces, whether that is the engine interior (flush it), SS/chrome parts (wash it), or the trailer (rinse it). Millions of boats sit in salt water on a daily basis without issue. If you boat in saltwater frequently (and I have), simply take care of your equipment. I have been boating in the Florida waters for 25+ years and have never had an issue because of saltwater.

Re: saltwater

what air vents do you mean?

any water in any air vent can't be good.

And salt water won't hurt any quality boat or motor.

Re: saltwater

Stingray the vents are on the right and left side of the swim platform and are for ventinting the engine compartment.

Re: saltwater

Every inboard or I/O has those vents. One side isn't hooked to anything (forward facing louvers) and the other has the bilge blower vent hose hooked to it (rear facing louvers). ant water spray that comes in will simply end up in the bilge.

I know the vents you're talking about...

They're on the older stingrays; now the blower intake/exhaust are on the outside port and starboard sides of the hull under "clamshell" sorta things. Anyway, there is almost no reasonable way any significant water could get in those vents unless you took a big wave over the stern for some reason; being anchored stern out and catching a huge wake for example. Those vents sit like 18" above water line and over a foot back from the rearmost edge of the hull. If some water did get in there, it would go into the blower hoses, so all it would touch would either be the blower itself or nothing at all, depending on which vent water got into. Then it would drain into the bilge.

I do still think Stingray was smart to move them out of that area and onto the outside edge of the boat, though.
