I have a horse trailer that need painting and will probably have other spray paint projects, later.

Have not purchased a sander in about 20 years. Currently, I use an electric orbital, that works, but does not clamp the end of the sheets well anymore.

The newer sanders that attach the sheets with "velcro", look nice, but the sheets are about triple the price.

What do you all use?

on a metal trailer that is probably pitted a bit it would use an angle grinder fitted with a stiff wire cup brush. Something like this and this;

Buy whatever brand you like and just make sure the cup brush fits the grinder, but it will make quick work of the trailer and do well if the trailer is pitted. btw that's a bit pricey for a cup brush, i've seen em at the depot for less than 10 (not dewalt brand, just generic)

We use a 6" DeWalt random orbital with the velcro type discs. It works great and we work it hard. We paint horse trailers, too...

You can order the velcro sandpaper on line in bulk for a lot cheaper. I got a "kit" that contained something like 20 80G, 25 120G, 50 220G and 50 600G for under $50. When I added it all up, it was something like 15% cost of home depot prices....

I am sure that I helped the Chinees economy though with the purchase.
