Re: sbc help

i can tell you this right off hand i do know that a chevy 350 motor is a 4.00 bore and 3.75 stroke and if you bore one .010 over you gain 5 cubic inchs on a v8 if that helps

Re: sbc help

That casting # IS a 4.00 bore 327 block. You said rings don't fit; did you measure the bore? Maybe you got a set of 4.125 400 rings by accident.

Pistons can to be up to .008 smaller than the bore. You cant have pistons that are exactly 4" fit into a 4" bore. Where do the rings go? Double check the bore size in many positions and holes to get the correct size. I have seen rings that come over sized and you have to file them down to your desired ring gap.

boring a 350 out .030 will make it a 355...

Re: sbc help

I got it wrong as well,
283 chevy 3.875 bore, 3.000 stroke
307 chevy 3.876 bore, 3.25 stroke.

Measure the distance, the piston travells down the bore and you'll know the stroke
Sounds like you have 307 which has the 327 crank:)
