My son has a question that we can't seem to find the answer to:

"Which of the following vessels supplies the coronary circulation?"
A - Aortic Arch
B - Pulmonary Trunk
C - Pulmonary Veins
D - Inferior Vena Cava

We've Been searching and searching. But can't seem to find a good solid answer.

I'm not very smart when it comes to anatomy, I've read that page already and couldn't see any of the choices they give him.
Perhaps it's not black and white printed for me, but now it's gotten me curious to what it is.

I see what you mean, that "google search" doesn't help since those are your four choices.

If I guessed, it would be "A"

The answer is not A or B. Depending upon how you look at it, could be either C or D. C supplies oxygenated blood from the lungs and D supplies de-oxygenated blood from the lower body to the heart.

My educated guess would be C.

He's off to school.
I don't know if he'll find the answer today, but I'm curious. So far with every one I have asked, they all could only guess.

The coronary arteries are the first vessels to branch off the aortic arch, so the best answer would be A. The pulmonary veins carry oxygenated blood to the left atrium. The pulmonary trunk probably refers to the main pulmonary artery which takes deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle to the lungs. The inferior vena cava brings deoxygenated blood from the lower body to the right atrium.

A good part of the difficulty here is the ambiguity of the question.
It would be hard to judge any of those options as actually being "wrong".
"Best" answer is probably "A".

The answer is A.

The aortic arch supplies oxygenated blood to the right and left coronary arteries for blood supply to the heart muscle itself. The left coronary artery divides into the left anterior descending (LAD) branch and the left circumflex branch. The right coronary artery and the branches of the left coronary artery provide numerous smaller branches that penetrate the heart muscle, supplying it with blood.

Fireman is also a 20 year Paramedic...
