scored a free QD-23 today

50 PSI on both cylinders (hasn't run in a decade so I'm sure I can get it higher), all new everything under the flywheel however missing all the carb control parts - knobs and such and 1 of the little recoil springs is gone, should I or shouldn't I part this thing out? Should I revive it? Decisions decisions. It's been well used and isn't clean but most of it is there.

9.5's? I hardly see em up here. I like the 10's much better. I'd sure fix up the QD23, they're one of the better looking 10's. Where you'd score it? did I miss a local ad?

Well I ran it tonight, 3 or 4 pulls via rope and it fired up, idled not too bad and would run up in speed. Needs a carb cleaning of course. If was pumping lots of water, I took temp reading- top cylinder reached 158F, bottom 140F. I pulled the stat and tested it, it opened no problem. Then I pulled the stat and let it run, top was 120 and bottom 100. Isn't 158 too hot? When I pulled the stat I left the cover off and it was pumping like crazy so it's not a restriction. It's a freshwater motor so salt isn't the culprit. I guess the stat could be weak so I'll replace it. The next issue was the lower unit, a pin hole in the AV plate leaked lower unit oil, first time i've seen that.
