Sorry had to
Need to know besides changing pro pitch is there anything I can do to my 4 cyl. Volvo aq125 to get more HP out of her? Or is what it is all she will be??
Changing pitch to a lower would benefit your hole shot. Good for pulling but watch the rev's

Funny...Funny but wrong movie lol
Well, you could use race gasoline, but it's pretty expensive. I'm going to switch from regular to high-test this season.
How is "race gasoline" or high octane fuel going to make any difference other than marginally making his wallet lighter?
High octane fuel doesn't make the engine more powerful. It's intended to be used in a high compression engine, which he doesn't have.
The amount of BTU in Premium or regular is the same 125,000 BTU/gallon, no more stored energy, that's just a myth that has kicked around for decades. The difference comes with the resistance to pre ignite.. higher octane, is actually harder to ignite, so figuring that your motorcycle does not ping on 87, you are actually advancing the ignition timing by running a higher octane given it will ignite later in the cycle. It would advance a very miniscule amount but such that could effect HP a tiny bit, but it has nothing to do with stored energy.. Bottom line is, it won't do much in the boat engine beyond waste $$$.. Now you could bump the ignition timing a bit to get more HP if you're going to stick to premium grade gasoline, but it still won't provide much.
Yes it does, at the track, with no other changes to my motorcycle, i can get a change from 128 to 130 mph in 1/4 mile by using the race gas. It has more stored energy, so more power. Now, when it comes to racing, milliseconds count. On a boat, it will have the same change, small but measurable. I plan to get my boat up to 30MPH this year, past two years, 29.5 was all I could get. Is it worth the money...that's another discussion![]()
