I got a pretty deep scratch in my gelcoat, down to the fiberglass in one spot. What should I use to seal it? I'm also wondering what the best product to seal screw holes is. Thanks.

Re: Scratch in gelcoat

I have used Marine-tex for screw holes. Hardens real nice and can be sanded.

Re: Scratch in gelcoat

Most marine supply stores and many hardware stores sell gel coat repair kits, some come with pigments to help tint it for a better match, it's very easy.

Re: Scratch in gelcoat

For minor scratches and repairs...use the gel-coat repair kit. After the scratch is filled,Use wet dry sand paper....start with 220 if you need to shape the patched area. Continue going finer...400, then 600 then 800....then a couple coats of rubbing compound followed by three coats of wax. It should look pretty desent when your done.
