Scratched Crankshaft Postion sensor on 03 5.7 mercruiser 350

Just replaced Crank Postion Sensor and noticed the old one was scratched up pretty bad. I replaced the sensor and started stalling again after a while. Pulled the new sensor and noticed that one is scratched up as well. Would anyone know what would cause this and how to fix?

Serial number of motor and part number of sensor???

I don’t have that info right now or a picture on me right this second but I’m trying to do my best to figure out what’s going on. I was just wondering if anyone has had experience with scratched up crank sensors on the mercruisers. I didn’t get many responses from that first post so I thought I’d post something more specific. Sorry
