Does anyone know where I'd find the filter/screen for the vapor separation tank? I have a 2000 5.7L GSI-PEFS engine. About 2 years ago, my mechanic told me this screen to the VST had become clogged (apparently the ethanol is eating away the paint inside these engines and can clog this filter).

I'd like to check it again to see if it is clogged. I've looked at the parts schematic for my fuel system pumps and I don't see a screen/filter (or the vapor separation tank for that matter).

Can anyone help me locate this screen and has anyone else had trouble with this clogging due to paint and/or sediment in the fuel? I'm hoping this is easy to access on my engine and check since my fuel filter and pumps are right in front.

Re: Screen / filter for Vapor Separation Tank?

So it looks like the Vapor Separation Tank is going to be my problem. It is all corroded and gummed up. My distributor is telling me they're seeing a lot of this due to the ethanol tearing up the interiors of these tanks when left to sit over some time (e.g., when winterized for 4-5 months) and that they're selling a on of these because of it. Are other people seeing this issue as well?

Further, it looks like you can only order the entire unit from Volvo (the vapor separation tank, low pressure pump, high pressure pump) rather than just the VST/reservoir. Is this correct? If I just need a pump, I can order it separately, but if I need the VST then it only comes with the pumps and complete assembly. Do I have this correct? anyone have a part number?

Is there somewhere to search for used parts? (e.g., this vapor separation tank for a 2000 5.7 L GSI engine)?
