Wednesday evening was slightly choppy on the lake, tide was out, and slight breeze. Ran WOT up to 5380 RPM is where it maxxed due to the chop couldnt trim out anymore due to stability. Saw some birds about middle of the lake and head for them. Slowed the motor on the approach, and it died completely. Pulled the plugs, not fouled, check everything, couldnt find it. Guy I knew happened to be crossing the lake and gave me a tug. Today I got around to looking at it. Two of the three screws on the carbs that block off the jet at the top were gone! Found one in the lower motor and have no clue about the other one? So the motor was sucking air i suppose as those are the low speed jets? idle? Are you supposed to put loctite on em?

no its just a screw that blocks off the jet in the front of the carb, not the rich lean screw.

One good thing that I found is finger nail polish, this is what I have used on a bunch of my parts that didn't wamt tp come loose. I have found this to work great for me. You can break it loose when needed.

Thanks,
Bryan Cox

Yep I agree, my outboard has fingernail polish on a few screw heads, I've even used different colours for different parts for night time repairs if necessary. (glow in the dark)
Breaks apart easily but holds the screw there till you change your mind.
Ross
