Hello.
The other day I added 2 ounces of sea foam per gallon to clean out my engine while running.(I could not leave well enough alone)
Ever since my engine needs a bit of choking while starting and it will hesitate every so often while running at high rpm's.
Is this just pure coincidence or does seafoam dissolve the packing in the needle housings??
Thank you for any thoughts, opinions and advice,
Rolmops.

Seafoam can desolve anything, like you said. It does the same thing alcohol or naptha do to rubber parts over time. Still, it's better than using nothing. Some people continually run it mixed with thier fuel. Others "treat" the engine using one of those bug spray bottles...Not quite sure how or why, but I read about it hear.
Personally, I "treat", using the spray areosol can. I do so after most every outing, because I live in Florida, where manatees govern speeds (hence, many idle zones).

Hello 12-footer.
Thank you for your reply.
As it turned out,the problem was far more prozaic and not related to seafoam.I had just replaced the old fuel filter in the glass bowl on the side of the engine. This was the old fashioned type that looks a bit like an airator stone with a modern one just slightly bigger. It turned out that the fuel flow resistance created by this newer device was big enough to make the engine hesitate.
I guess I learned a little bit more about what not to do....
