I was referred to this forum as a few are starting to think this is a chrysler engine. I email franzmarine and he seems to think a Late 60's engine.

I'm having trouble getting spark. May need some ignition parts. Plus Recoil parts.

Here's all the numbers I can find on the engine.
There are only 3 other stamped numbers on the engine and mounts.
Is there a certain place they stamp the numbers?

On the bracket that mounts to the transom
145532
AICOA
Bracket that mounts the engine bracket to the transom bracket.
145072-1
Bracket the mounts engine to bracket.
183940-1
Then the scratched in number that is listed 2 times.
MN0620 000 8647

Dont know if it will help, but is has a:
Tillotson Carb
# MD126A
And the logo on the cowl had Sea King 20 and a M with W But they are stacked on top of each other.

Here are a few pics:

If someone could help me get more info on this engine so I can order some parts. It's oily in the compartment so i would like to seal those up.. Wondering if I can use a Hi temp gasket sealer. Unless I can get gaskets for this.

Re: Sea King By Chrysler Help

The old dog is alive!!

I moved the points and cleaned them, Set the gap. Checked for spark and I had spark in one cylinder. Removed and swapped the condensors and same thing. Same plug wire without spark. So I removed the whole ignition plate and cleaned with Mineral Spirits and blew dry.

Checked for spark again and had it in both cylinders. Put the plugs in and primed the system. About 5 minutes of pulling the old dog fired up. Smokes like crazy but there's old fuel in the tank. After some tinkering around, One pull and it starts up.

Imagine what it will run like with fresh fuel and new plugs.
Now to fix the starter gear.

FRANZMARINE HAS THE STARTER GEAR @ $10.00. EASY TO CHANGE TOO. SIMPLY PULL THE TOP TWO BOLTS AND LOOSEN THE BOTTOM TWO ON THE RECOIL MECHANISM. LIFT THE RECOIL UNIT OFF OF A ROLL PIN THAT HOLDS THE RECOIL SPRING PLASTIC FORK FROM SPINNING. dRIVE OUT THE PIN THAT GOES THROUGH THE STARTER GEAR,SLIDE ON NEW GEAR ONTO SHAFT AND REPLACE PIN INTO SHAFT. REASSEMBLE AND WIND SPRINS ENOUGH TO PROVIDE A SMALL TENSION ON PULL ROPE. YOUR FINISHED!
