I just acquired an older Sea Nymph 12K aluminum boat that is in great shape except for the wooden transom motor mounts which are completely rotten. The originals were of Plywood (roughly 12"x6"x1/2" on the inside, and 12"x12"x1" on the outside). I haven't been able to find the manufacturer's web site to see if replacements are available, and I haven't had any luck finding marine plywood without buying enough to build a whole boat. Any sugestions in either direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Tom

Re: Sea Nymph 12K Aluminum

Sea Nymph has been sold and is a called a "Lowe" brand boat. Last time I tried to buy parts from a dealer or direct, they told me NO! and wouldn't give me an explanation. I used to buy hull parts for ALL aluminum boats that I fixed, but for some reason, alot of the manufactures won't sell parts anymore.<br /> You will have to laminate some regular construction grade ply (AC exterior grade unless you want to spring for a full sheet of marine grade) with the two "A" panels out using MARINE EPOXY and clamps. Then it needs to SOAKED in REAL green copper napthate (solvent based woodlife NOT water based) then allowed to dry in the shade for a week. Mechanicly clean where the wood meets the aluminum and use green zinc chromate on the aluminum. Replace blind nuts and screw/bolts with stainless hardware and seal with 5200.
