Re: sea nymph. 19.5 gls

I have had a few leaky alum. boats. 1-give it a good visual, look at each rivet for gaps or paint separated, 2-chk. transom area for loose screws or areas where water can penetrate, 3- this could be an easy fix if the stern holes have a prob. if its older its prob. had several transducers , speedo wheels etc. OR on the rivet side you are looking at prob.pulling the floor and tightening them and you can chk stringers at same time. Not an expert on a quick fix, there prob. are products that can seal them temp. Hope this little info helps. Dave

Hi Bucko, I would be interested to know what you found on leak(s) Hopefully a new screw in an old transom accessory with some sealant will fix you , that "coat it" looks interesting too for other fixes. I looked most of spring for a late 80,s GLS and found a 87Alumicraft 18.5 thats comparable. In the process now of bring her back, interesting tho that it did not leak at all, but almost evering else has to be repaired or replaced. This forum has helped me out so much I cant do without it now, plus you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself the right way with all the fellow old boat lovers help. Dave

I think woodonglass is the expert for you, I believe the proper fix is weld the tear and tighten rivets ,I am interested to see any other sugestions he may have for you. I have my alumicraft floor out and for me to fix any loose rivets,if they were leaking, I would assume all the flotation would have to be removed too , yours is probobly similar. That coat it sounds like good stuff but Ithink it is like putting a band aid on a more serious problem???
