I am new to this forum and to boating with this being my first boat. It is a Sea Ray 185 bow rider with a Sea Ray 135 outboard motor. I believe this motor is also known as a mercury 3.0 135hp engine. This boat has an inboard gas tank and a separate external oil reservoir. On the last trip the oil reservoir went empty. I was getting a series of beeps but did not know what was the cause at the time. I assumed that the beeps were due to being low on oil. I have sinced refilled the oil reservoir but I am still getting the beeps and do not know what to look for or do next. Any suggestions or directions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi grayfox,

If you ran out of oil in the tank (the 2 gal. tank) then you need to bleed the tank (the 2 pint tank) that is mounted on the motor above the carbs.

All you have to do is, with the engine running, remove the cap on the tank mounted on the motor near the carbs (the 2 pint tank), and allow that tank to fill to the top with oil being pushed from the large oil tank (the 2 gal. tank).

This should silence the alarm.

Kenny

Also what kind of beep was it. 1 beep every minute. Or constant beeeeeeeeeeeep(overtemp). If it is the intermittent beep, then do as said in earlier post.
