Sea Ray 240 Bilge Pump

Hey, this is a simple question I know, but on a 240 Sea Ray how often should you run the bilge, and when its sitting at the dock how often should I go run it. The boat does not have an automatic bilge pump, and I leave the battery off when its docked.

put an automatic in it also, wire it directly to the battery. a friend of mines 18 ft Cobia, sank this week, just from one heavy thunder shower.
