just bought a 1991 sea ray bowrider 200 with a 5.7 260 h.p. mercruiser. boat has very low hours and i am the second owner. boat is in near mint condition and runs very well. this is my first sea ray and i really like it so far. have only been out in it 3 or 4 times since i bought it late in the year. according to sea Rays web site the boat weights in at 3150 lbs empty with only a 4.3 litre, so i,m sure that with the 5.7 you could add another 3or 4 hundred lbs. i had a 21 foot chris craft scorpion cuddy before this one and it was not as heavy. seems to ride better would that be the weight???? anyway what makes some boats better than others? is searay a good boat and if so why????? thanks in advance.....

How the owner(s) take care of it and maintain it. A well cared for "entry level" boat is better than a "high dollar name" boat that has been neglected and beaten into the ground...or rocks.....

Couldn't agree more. Boats don't always start out equal but if you maintain it well you will be well ahead of the game.

I've always heard great things about Sea Ray and wouldn't have hesitated at buying one when we were shopping.

To answer your question about quality, I think it comes in the materials & workmanship of the hull, how thick it is (adding to the extra weight). Also the quality of fabrics & hardware can make a big difference in durability.

I loved my 2002 SeaRay.

yes it was a bit heavier than other brands. that is what gave it the ride that I loved

. . . anyway what makes some boats better than others? is Searay a good boat and if so why????? thanks in advance.....

Construction methods, material selection, and quality control are what make some boats better than others. Most folks cannot see the construction methods of a boat, so a lot of the sense of a particular boat brand as being 'better' is in the eyes of the beholder.

SeaRay is a well regarded boat, very popular. It is also has a lot of company with other 'good' boats. Most of the companies who made 'bad' boats have gone out of business.

Keep in mind that you own a 22 year old boat. So, how good it was when made has little to do with its condition now.

Best if you stack them endwise. :D

The problem is the shape of the bow does not allow stacking in that fashion. . . so they are best stacked one on top of the other. :D
