Sea Ray F-16 TopSpeed

I have a 1996 Sea Rayder F-16 with the 120 sport jet motor. I went threw it with a fine tooth comb and replaced anything that looked worn. A blade broke off the inpeller so I had to replace it and the where ring. 500 bucks. the engine runs like a top.. starts right up punch it right to 5000 rpms runs smooth but top speed is only 35 mph. is that it ? the last owner said it used to go 40-45 ? what could be wrong ? just wondering . Last owner lied to you

the 120HP in a 16' will do 38MPH on perfect condition with 1 person aboard.

I've also heard those rumors when i bought mine that it could do 40MPH+ but these are BS.

hmm, I think you both have problems. My SJ90 in a 18' Tracker will do 31 top. Check your ride plate gasket, especially around the front corners. Pull gasket off plate. my gasket was cracked on the inside bend and was unable to see it until I removed it from the plate and streached it out straight.
