Sea Ray models question

I have some questions about Sea Ray boats.
I own a 1990 Sea Ray 200cc. I think it measures at 20 ft and 10 inches.
I know before 200cc was made in 1990 Sea Ray made 21 Ft Seville.
What was the biggest difference between the 2 models. I never seen on up close and personal. Are the boats pretty much the same? Do the older sevilles have bigger V? Also what do you guys think about the 200cc model and quality. Also what would be biggest waves that hull can take. Thanks guys.

Re: Sea Ray models question

I have an '88 20' BR, looks like the same hull from the specs on the Sea Ray web page. The 21' is 14" longer and 600 lb heavier than the 20' we have. I've only owned it 4 months, but I can tell you everything I've found out about the quality of the boat has been good. In this old a boat, of course, the way it was taken care of is everything. Mine has spent most of it's life on a trailer, and well covered if not in dry storage. It's very solid. I've got the 205hp 4.3 LX, and it seems like plenty of power for the boat. In 90, I see they also offered the 5.0 LX 230 hp.

I've not been out on any rough water yet, but it handles wakeboard boat wakes very easily. I'd be more confident in rough water with the CC model, because if you bury the bow a little bit, you'll shed the water, whereas the BR will keep it in the cockpit. With the design of the swim platforms, you should be careful of cutting the throttle too quickly. The stern wave could climb up on the swim platforms and push the stern down a bit. Just come off the plane gradually to avoid this (although this comment applies to almost any boat with a solid swim platform...).

Re: Sea Ray models question

Thanks for the reply. I got 2 seasons on this boat and for being 21 years old almost she looks and rides great. No damage that I can see to the hull or structure. Just regular nicks and chips. I have the 4.3 with 205 HP rating and it does great. I boat on lake st.clair in Mi and it gets rough. I know it can take 3ft waves with no problem.
