Sea Ray windshield needed.

Hello to all. Do you know of any marine glass dealers besides Taylor ? I contacted the Taylor Co. and was told that I had to go through a Searay dealer. I really don't want to pay anything more then I have to a third party. This will only drive the price up. The boat is an 02' 240 Sea Ray Sundancer the part number I'm looking for is 703-0078943 witch is the center window, or door glass. I'm not sure if this is a Tayler part number? I'm thinking it is. I'm only looking for the replacement part the frame is fine and it looks like an easy fix.

Are there any glass guys on the list that may know how long has this part been being used? And what other makes and models it has been used on? I'm thinking it was used on a few. This info will help me deside if locating a used piece from a bone yard is worth the wait and effort. Wonder have you ever replaced this part ? If so how much was it?

I am thinking of using a piece of Lexan for now but I'm not sure if the color will match. The boat is still in good shape and I don't want it to look like crap. Do you know if Lexan makes a colored piece? I'm looking for green. It might be the way to go if I cant get this part for a reasonable price. From what I've read so far about pricing is out of control.

Anyway, any and all advice regarding this matter would be GREAT!!!

Regards,

Chris

Try taylor made again and just tell them that your dealer told you to shop direct, our's did. After that they were easy to deal with.

Get out your checkbook. Windshields are pretty much the WORST thing to have to replace on a boat.

The center section of a bow rider windshield is flat, tempered glass. Any glass shop should be able to fix it. Just remove the walk-thru from the windshied and bring it to them...

Re: Sea Ray windshield needed.

I wish it were that easy. It's not a flatpiece of glass...........

Yesterday I did get a reply from Searay and the parts guy told me it would cost somewhere around $1000.00. hahahah I did also find out that this part has been used by Sea Ray since 99'. So I'll put out my feelers and see what I can come up with. For now I'm going to use a piece of Lexan until I can find a boatyard that has the part.

Now I need help locating boat / junk yard that may have this part for sale. Does anyone know of any?

Thanks for the reply.

Not bad? I guess thats easy to say when it's not you whos paying that $1000.00 for it!

Bubba were talking about a piece of glass here not gold. That price is out of control! Sea Ray has been using this part since 99' it's 12 years now so I hope it's not that hard to locate a used one. I figure if I hang around here for a while something will pop up. Are there any boat boanyards around you that you know of? Any help will be great. Something is bound to pop up.

Thanks andf keep me in mind if something pops up

Re: Sea Ray windshield needed.

Woosterken Thanks very much brother for keeping an open eye out for me!!! My boat is a 2002. Like I've said in earlier posts I know the 99-2002 will work. So if you see something between those years let me know. I don't know about after 2002 I'm going to call the girl at Tayler and get more info on the part. I'll post the info when I learn more.

Hey Summer-fun I'd think twice about using plate glass on your boat. I font think it's a good idea. But that's just me. I think Bubba has it right about replacing all of it with plastic. I wonder what something like that would cost.

Bubba, It sounds like you have a good idea on how different it is going to look using a piece of Lexan. Maybe I'll get some dark window film and do a tint job to hide the difference? I wonder if Lexan comes in Green tint? if you know? Who made the windshields for your jobs??? As far do you know who can make curved Lexan pieces? Can you tell me how thick of a piece of Lexan I will need to buy for the temp repair job until I locate a used piece? Is it 3/16's

Thanks for the help guys. Stay cool and have a good night!
