Sea water pump intake shutoff valve

Can someone share a picture or diagram of what these look like and where they are located on a Mercruiser, preferably 7.4L?

Does anyone know if a 1997 7.4LX MPI w/ Bravo 3 has this shutoff valve? If so, where is it?

I presume it would be located on either the transom end or the pump end of the hose? And since the transom end is impossible to get to, most likely there under a million wires and hoses and components.

Ayuh,.... If there is a valve, it's owner added,......

Merc didn't put one in the system,......

Thanks Bondo, good to know. One reads on these forums it could have fallen closed but no one ever clarified it was strictly aftermarket.
