Sea water pump leak on 4.3L

During winterizing yesterday I noticed a small leak on my sea water pump and pinpointed it as a shaft seal leak. I've heard these can be rebuilt. Is rebuilding the way to go? Or should I purchase a new pump? Haven't priced either way yet. I replaced the impeller recently also. Could I have done something during impeller installation to start the leak? 96' 4.3L Volvo penta with SX drive.

Re: Sea water pump leak on 4.3L

They made about 30 different 4.3 models.
Most use the same pump, some don't.
ALL are expensive some where between 3-400$
So a rebuild is the way to go.
Post the serial#s and model#s and anything that helps identify your unit.
Fill out the profile,location?
