Has anyone used seacast for replacing their stringers? Also, the fiberglass around the previous stringers is still pretty much in tact, but some sections of it are missing, is there an easy way to fix this if I want to pour seacast? I've heard you can use duct tape to repair small portions of it, but theres a decent amount missing. I can provide pictures tomorrow if no one understands what I am talking about.

Their website goes over this actual procedure pretty thoroughly, so...yes you can, and yes you can ;) Though the material isn't the same as the transom material to the best of my recollection.

Re: Seacasting Stringers

I really love the idea of replacing the stringers with Seacast, but the cost is just so expensive. If they brought the cost of the material down, it would become an industry standard.

As for the missing stringer sides, I would think you would have to make some kind of form. Some Luan board or something like that could be attached to keep the seacast in, then removed when the stuff hardens. You would have to make these forms leak proof because I am sure you would not want this stuff to seep out.

as said, use a dam, form, cover with wax paper, then it is easy to come off.

So this is a decent option? strong and durable? also, has anyone who's ever used it know the pricing on this stuff, their website is very discrete about the price, and thats probably for a reason.
