Just put 1 can (16oz) in what I could best guess was 13 gallons.Started it up and it ran great but I noticed almost 5mph difference when I ran it today at the lake when wide open.Normally my boat will run 70mph and thats all itll do, today when running the Seafoam in the tank it ran 75mph.Seems strange to me.Also the check engine light came on when I was wide open.I shut it down and the light/buzzer went off. Then started right back up and I couldnt make it do it cut off again.IRan it about 4 miles to make sure it all worked through the carbs. Is this increase in speed normal? My engine is a 2000 Johnson 175 pushing a 18' Stratos bass boat.Opinions?

Re: Seafoam cause speed increase?

It's amazing to see the difference after using SeaFoam. There is a thread on here for doing a decarbon and the results are teriffic. I buy the stuff by the gallon! The regular dosage is 1 oz per gallon, but I thin mine a bit. On my last boat I pulled a carb down and was really happy to see how clean it was. I am a believer....:)

Looks like a succesful decarb. The faster the exhaust gets out, the faster the fuel gets in. May well have contributed to the speed increase.
