Read the label.

Seafoam and Marine Stabil is designed for two different purpose.

I think they are all snake oil....... if you are burning up the fuel in the tank without any long term storage I think they are a waste.

Sea Foam is a great treatment in the first tank of fuel of the season.......but beyond that the additive game does not come into play with me until the end of the season.

Most of the manufactorers now a days are recommending stabil at every fill up. Especially if the boat sits in the water.

I just think it is a money game and I do not agree with their suggested methods.... as I mentioned it depends on how fast you burn fuel up.

Re: seafoam or marine stabil

I use marine stabil (blue stuff) at each fill-up (adding the amount related to the gals. of fuel to fill up) because I don't know when the next fishing trip will be - within a month or 6 months from now. I live in Florida and don't winterized because fishing happens year round. Sorry for ya'll up North. :D

I agree stabilizer is a waste if the gas is constantly used.

I've hear good stuff about sea foam as a PM on engines, but I'm not buying it as a stabilizer.

IMHO

I run sea foam through on a lot of fill ups, not to stabilize, but to clean the fuel system.

Seafoam in the spring
Stabil before winter storage

That's it.

Re: seafoam or marine stabil

I'm a believer. So is every outboard mechanic I've ever dealt with. The ethanol in the gas we burn today causes it to deteriorate rapidly. I actually use another brand that I can't call to mind at the moment, but my SOP is to add it if the boat will be sitting longer than a week. That may be overkill, but I see it as cheap insurance against expensive engine work down the road. Sure makes my Mercs happy. They told me so.;)

If you're running E-10, you already have the best fuel cleaner in town in your tank. Why bother?

Re: seafoam or marine stabil

I only use SeaFoam uppon winterizing the boat by pouring it into the carb to flush the system before putting it away. Sta-Bil goes into the fuel tank at the end to cover the fuel in the tank and the fuel lines, then I close the fuel valve and let the engine die on its own. SeaFoam/Sta-bil doesn't need to be used unless you aren't going to use the boat for a month or more IMO.
